Current and upcoming events

June through August 2025 -- A1 group art exhibit at Clayton Center for the Arts in Maryville. Around 30 A1 artists are in this show at the "La Dolce Vita" and "Denso" galleries in the Clayton Center Main Building (not the arts building where the college art department is).  Generally open 9 to 5 on weekdays until late August.  Enter through the main doors and proceed right through the big lobby.

July 2025 -  Owl art show at Ijams,  Last year we did a Crow Show at Ijams (see past events, below), which included not only great art but also in person visits from Ijams' beautiful resident owls (since Ijams has no resident crows).  This year its owls all the way!  We will ask A1 members to bring art which either depicts or is inspired by owls.  Ijams does not lend itself to first friday events, but it is open to the public every day and last year we had a dozen pieces of crow art sell. The display area is good for wall-mounted art -- there is not room for 3d art unless it can be suspended overhead from the roof beams (which would be cool and appropriate for owl theme).

September 2025 “Parking Day” maybe.

November 2025 possibly another group show at RED Gallery!

December 2025 A1 members group show at Knoxville Museum of Art, Kramer Gallery on ground floor.   The Kramer Gallery is a beautiful, well-lighted space that can accommodate both 2d and 3d work and comes complete with a live KMA watchperson.  But it is not a large space, so we might need to impose size limits so that there will be room for all A1 members who want to participate  --  we will assess expected participation levels later this year and advise accordingly.  At our member meeting in January, we went through a Dada-esque process by which members voted on three "theme" words for the show, and out of many words proposed the three that got the most votes are: Scorch / Resist / Trashformation.  Make of that what you will.

On occasion: We expect to continue having more “Surreal Salon” events from time to time.  These are not exhibits – they are gatherings for people to come together for discussion, refreshments, and creative games or exercises such as Exquisite Corpse.
